Fall Division Guidelines

Updated Thursday April 21, 2016 by Suzanne Dumas.

All divisions are coed.  The Fall program is focused on instruction and development.  Fall Ball is considered an introduction to next spring's season, not a continuation of last spring's season.  For this reason players may play up a division based on where they played in the Spring.

Based on the skill set of kids registered in the Fall, kids may play on a different field in the Fall than they will play on the following Spring.  Fall placement does not guarantee placement in a higher division in the next Spring season.   This does not reflect on the child’s development or improvement.

In the Fall standings are not kept and there are no play offs.

T-Ball - For players league age 5 – 6

Players will learn the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing and base running. Players use a tee during games to develop and reinforce the correct batting swing.  Coach Pitch will be introduced half way through the season.  In this division score is not kept.  The emphasis is placed on having fun and learning.

Coach/Machine Pitch – For players league age 7 – 8

This is our overhand coach pitch or machine pitch division.  A pitching machine may be used for accuracy and consistency to build the kids' confidence in facing "live" pitching.  Players continue to develop baseball fundamentals without keeping score.

DIVISION 3 – For players league age 8 – 9

This is our first level of "kid-pitch" play and players in the division are selected based upon a skill level and a draft.  Kids are introduced to play where score is kept.

DIVISION 2 – For players league age 10 – 11

The pace of this division will closely resemble a combination of the Spring Divisions AA/AAA.  For this reason kids who play in this division in the Fall may be drafted to the AA division in the Spring.  This does not reflect the child’s development or improvement.

DIVISION 1 – For players league age 11 – 12

The pace of this division will closely resemble a combination of the Spring Divisions Majors/AAA.  For this reason kids who play in this division in the Fall may be drafted to the AAA division in the Spring.  This does not reflect the child’s development or improvement.

SLL reserves the right to make changes in any division (incl. age distribution), as necessary, for the benefit of skills development, balanced teams or scheduling.
