When will the season start?
We are hoping to start our season in mid or late March, pending on certain approvals from the Los Angeles Community College District, our landlord.
When the season begins, how will my player be placed on a team?
Sunrise understands that many players may not have played much baseball over the past year. When we do begin, we will hold a weekend of clinics to help shake the rust off and evaluate players, which will help us select the appropriate division for the player.
Will we play games?
At this time, youth sports are limited to practices, clinics, and camps only, with actual game competition not allowed. After teams are picked, Sunrise intends to conduct practices and clinics until such time as games are allowed by the State and local public health authorities.
What safety measures will be taken at Sunrise?
Sunrise has developed a comprehensive safety plan that meets the guidelines applicable to the re-opening of youth sports as published by the California and Los Angeles County Departments of public health. This plan includes, but is not limited to, mandatory mask use for all adults on the field and off while at Sunrise, handwashing stations, reduced capacity in dugouts, use of the stands as supplemental dugout space, the presence of only one parent/guardian per child, reduced number of teams and players per team, requiring players to be spread amongst the 9 baseball positions for all practices, sufficiently spaced practice times, etc.
If the season does not happen, will I get a refund?
When you register, Sunrise will only charge $50 which is non-refundable and covers the costs of jerseys and Little League chartering/insurance requirements. The remaining registration fees will not be charged until the start date of the season is formally announced.
How long will the season be?
Once it begins, the spring season will run for approximately three (3) months with plans to continue through June.
If I do not register now, can I sign-up later?
At this time, Sunrise is limiting all teams to 10 players and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Will Sunrise have All-Stars this season?
District 40, of which Sunrise is member, is currently evaluating the potential of hosting an All-Star tournament if, and when conditions permit. If District 40 conducts an All-Star tournament, Sunrise intends to participate.
Can I watch my child play?
Sunrise will allow one parent to watch on property at all times until social distancing restrictions are lifted by state and local public health authorities.
Are masks required while playing baseball?
All Sunrise managers and coaches will be required to wear masks while working with players. All players will be required to wear masks.
Can I volunteer to manage or coach?
Yes! Sunrise will need and is still looking for, dedicated volunteers to help us return to baseball. If you are interested, please contact Ken Gaynor at Gaynor@sunrisebaseball.com.
Do I need to pay a snack shack deposit?
Since it is unclear as to whether we will be able to operate our snack shack, we are not accepting deposits for shifts at this time. If, and when, we are able to operate the snack shack, we will accept deposits at that time.
