SUNDAY, JUNE 25TH---
It was a great day for Sunrise All Star Teams on Sunday.
An early summer classic baseball game was played by the Sunrise 12 year old All Star Team against Encino Little League. Both teams had outstanding pitching performances and were backed by great defenses. Sunrise’s pitching was started by Xavier Acosta, but he was removed in the 2nd inning due to an injury from a come-backer. Reed Thorne stepped in and shut-down the Encino offense with brilliant pitching for 3-1/3 innings, followed by Casey Gennaro’s strong pitching. In the end the Sunrise All Stars prevailed with four consecutive hits to start the top of 5th inning by Jacob Dawahare (single), Casey Gennaro (single), Landen Sawyer (rbi double) and Joe Rivera (rbi single). The inning was capped off by Colby O’Hayer bringing in the 3rd run of the inning. Encino made things interesting in the bottom of the 6th inning with bases loaded and two outs, however, Colby O’Hayer was able to track down a fly-ball in right field to end the threat and the game. Final Score Woodland Hills 3, Encino 1.
