Our league was born in 1955 when a group of very special parents felt that Little League was something that the Woodland Hills community needed for the neighborhood children.
Our organization has helped teach and nurture over 35,000 children in our community over the past 60 years. We are proud of the fact that we have one favorite son that has gone on to the Baseball Hall of Fame, Robin Yount. We are proud of the fact that in 1999 one of our kids was chosen from among thousands of national entries as “Little League Sportsman of the year." We are most proud that for over 60 years we have offered kids a safe haven to play baseball and learn about things that are a trademark of little league: teamwork, sportsmanship, loyalty and courage.
Today our league services the communities of Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Calabasas, Reseda, Winnetka, Canoga Park and West Hills. We have over 750 children who participate with us each year. We spend countless hours finding sponsors and raising money to help defray costs so that our league stays affordable. In many cases we provide scholarships for less fortunate families. Our volunteers work selflessly at all the games to run the snack shack, coach, umpire, and groom our fields. And, unlike other youth baseball leagues, we never turn down or cut a child from our program. If you sign up to play at Sunrise then you become a part of the Sunrise community.
